What We Do
CNY Fair Housing is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1991, dedicated to
eliminating housing discrimination, promoting open communities, and ensuring equal access to housing opportunities for all people in Central and Northern New York. The organization, based in Syracuse, New York, provides:
ENFORCEMENT & LITIGATION
Investigates rental, sales, insurance, and financing complaints, conduct undercover testing, provide counseling and advocacy on housing rights, and provide free legal representation to victims of illegal housing discrimination.
EDUCATION & OUTREACH
Trains housing professionals, service providers, municipalities and individuals, and families on Fair Housing rights and responsibilities and how to identify illegal behavior.
RESEARCH & CONTRACTUAL SERVICES
Produces reports for planning purposes including Assessments of Fair Housing, makes policy recommendations and performs self-monitoring investigations and testing for housing providers.
